For archive, library and preservation teams

Everything you've ever stored.
Searchable, tape included.

Decades of media are scattered across cloud, on-prem and LTO tape, and half of it you cannot see without a restore. Asset Foundry indexes it all in place, previews ~140 formats in a browser, and turns the tape library from a black box into one search. Keep everything. Find it once.

The daily friction
The tape library is a black box. I cannot tell you what is on that LTO shelf without a restore and a prayer.
We are paying rent on duplicates nobody knows are duplicates, across eight storage tiers.
Half our formats are dead. Nobody left here can open the EXRs, the DPX or the legacy 3D.
What changes for you
01

See inside the tape library

One search reaches cloud, on-prem and LTO tape at once, with a checksum and metadata on every result. The archive stops being a shelf you have to restore to read.

02

Kill duplicates paying rent

Checksum-level duplicate reports across 8 storage tiers show you exactly what is copied where, so you can reclaim the space instead of buying more of it.

03

Open dead formats, no specialist seat

~140 formats preview in a browser with no restore and no pre-processing: camera RAW, EXR and DPX, legacy 3D rendered as turntables. Formats nobody could open become visible.

04

Storage decisions become money decisions

Cold-file and archive-ROI reports tell you what has not been touched and what it costs to keep, so every tier and every retention call is backed by a number, not a guess.

A day in the life

A day in the archive, from black box to backed by numbers

STEP 01

Ask once, tape included

Someone needs the graded masters from a wrapped season. One search in Gateway reaches cloud, on-prem and the LTO shelf together and answers with checksums and browser previews, no restore ticket and no scavenger hunt across catalogs.

STEP 02

Pull the duplicate and cost report

Before you renew a tier, Gateway shows checksum-level duplicates across all 8 storage tiers and flags cold files nobody has touched. You reclaim space and hand finance an archive-ROI number instead of a bigger invoice.

STEP 03

Normalize and hand off clean

Fabric maps the season's mixed metadata into one OMC model, Nexus confirms every frame sequence ingested atomically, and a WRAP template structures the handover so the archive stays findable long after the crew disperses.

Questions
Can I see what is on our LTO tape without restoring it first?

Yes. Asset Foundry indexes cloud, on-prem and LTO tape in place, so one search returns tape-resident assets with a checksum, normalized metadata and a browser preview alongside your cloud and on-prem results. The tape library stops being a black box you have to restore to read, and restores become a deliberate choice rather than the only way to find out what you have.

How do I find duplicate assets across cloud, on-prem and tape?

Gateway produces checksum-level duplicate reports across all 8 storage tiers, matching on the file's checksum rather than its name or path. That means a master copied across tiers under different names is still recognized as one asset, so you can see exactly what is paying rent and reclaim the space with confidence.

Can we preview old EXR, DPX and legacy 3D without the original software?

Yes. Lens opens ~140 formats in a browser with no pre-processing, including camera RAW, EXR and DPX and legacy 3D rendered as turntables. Previews generate on the fly wherever the file lives, so a format nobody on the team can still open becomes something anyone can look at from a browser tab.

Does this replace our DAM or MAM?

No. Asset Foundry is the layer between your storage and the systems you already run. It indexes your archive read-only to start, normalizes metadata from 300+ systems into one MovieLabs OMC model, and writes approved records back, so your DAM and catalogs stay authoritative. A four-week pilot on one wrapped production proves it against your own tape, your own duplicates and your own numbers.
